"I am participating in a bloggers session at ECTRIMS 2013 on brain atrophy. The aim of the session is to debate the utility of various techniques and tools to communicate the issue brain atrophy to MSers, and MS stakeholders, in a clear and concise way.

    1. "Let's make some money!".

One of the most common causes of unemployment in MS is cognitive impairment so preventing brain atrophy, which is related to poor cognition, allows people with MS to earn money. Can we assume that this is what you meant?

    2. Prof G, this is not the place for this question, but I'd be grateful for an answer. Please could you tell us if any research has been done to differentiate between MS sufferers that have been using Sativex, Cannabis and other treatments and those that have not taken any drugs, to identify their level of cognitive impairment?

  2. Marijuana impairs memory because THC (active ingredient) alters how information is processed in the hippocampus- generally believed to be responsible for memory formation. Thus the ability to learn new information is compromised.

  3. "Time is Brain" is one I've heard from MSers and I think it resonates.
