Working it Out with Shift MS

At the recent Away Day as part of the preamble we had to come up with a interesting fact about ourselves..... I couldn't help thinking of "I met Kim Kardashian in the Lift". This is what Gen thought of in  "Circle of Truth" on her away day whilst considering coming out.

Now the People from ShiftMS have produced Working It Out

This one follows Gen as she interviews other people with multiple sclerosis (MS) about their experiences of employment.

What was my truth?

What happened on the Barge stays on the Barge:-)

Can you guess.

  2. This is what really irks me about Shift.ms. Just look at the pretty actors, the supremely middle-class settings, the copious books in shelves in the background, the lack of apparent disability. It's all so fake and unconvincing.

Glad to see that Big Pharma's got money to sponsor pointless exercises like this.

    1. So true. Perhaps shift.ms hasn't head of people with MS living in council estates or places like inner-city Liverpool.

The way Big Pharma is funding these awful short films is very distasteful. Also, why do they need to hire actors to pretend to be MSers? It goes to show that shift.ms has an issue with reality.

    2. I am sure many people do not think they are awful.

    3. Well, I like them, and we should be grateful the big pharmaceutical companies are making things like this. These aren't videos to hawk drugs - they are there to help people deal with all the stresses of having MS. They may or may not be valuable for you, but we should encourage big pharma to do more of this and give constructive feedback on what's most helpful rather than attack them.

    4. Do we know they are actors? Could they not be MSers, or actors with MS? I have to agree it is a bit contrived. Is Shift.ms still a charity? I am not sure if fronting-up an industry PR campaign is what they should be doing. The subliminal message is that if you are on Gilenya you are more likely to continue working.

    5. Sorry I couldn't understand what the point was of the video. The comments applied to the whole working community not just people that are ill. This blog is doing more to obstruct employment for people suffering from chronic illness.

    8. "how we are obstructing employment?" The implication is we can't manage our workload. We may find it difficult to get dressed for work in the morning, but when we get to work we find the best way to rime manage, as we do with the rest of our lives. Normally you will find we don't have duvet days, we do not call in sick with migraine when it is a hangover and we find ways of working during relapses. We are also the people the rest of the workplace admire for being organised. However, I still don't understand what the actors were trying to say. Oh it must be the dementia.

  3. No guesses about interesting facts........well.I had a painting in the Town Art Gallery....I was banned from talking about the juicy facts. That would be a case of what happened on the barge stays on the barge:-)
